Discover the six steps she takes her clients through to monetize their passions and pivot their businesses.

Let's dive in!

  1. Identify Your Passions

Take some time to reflect on what you love to do and what you are naturally gifted at.

Ask yourself questions like: What are your natural talents and abilities? What fulfills you and gives you energy? What matters to you? What do you find easy that others find difficult?

Explore unique gifts that you may not even realize you possess, such as design, finance, strategizing, coaching, organizing, or building relationships.

  2. Learn How to Monetize Your Passions

Create a list of all the different ways you can monetize your passions and talents.

Consider at least 50 to 100 ideas by brainstorming or seeking inspiration from resources like ChatGPT or previous episodes.

Categorize your ideas into three groups:

    a. Category 1 - Ideas that excite you and you can see yourself pursuing immediately.

    b. Category 2 - Ideas that excite you but may be more suitable for the future.

    c. Category 3 - Ideas that don't resonate with you or lack excitement.

  3. Get Clear on Your Target Audience/Ideal Client

Once you identify the passion or idea you want to pursue first, think about the specific group of people you want to serve.

Get super specific and define your ideal client based on demographics, interests, goals, or challenges.

For example, if you serve mompreneurs seeking time and financial freedom, create content tailored to their needs and struggles, including topics like goal setting, productivity, monetization strategies, and juggling motherhood.

  4. CreatE a Strong Marketing Strategy:

The key to attracting ideal clients is understanding where they are most active, both online and offline.

Conduct interviews and ask ideal clients about their online and offline activities.

Identify platforms such as social media, Google, podcasts, and YouTube where ideal clients spend their time.

Consider collaborations with others to tap into their audiences and maximize exposure.

Examples of collaborations include blog posting, joint live videos, guest posts, email list swaps, and hosting or participating in events.

Prioritize building an email list as it provides a sustainable way to engage with potential clients.

  5. Develop an Effective Sales Strategy & Sell With Confidence:

Focus on directly and effectively solving clients' problems.

Adopt a service mindset and prioritize adding value to clients' lives.

Shift the focus from selling to helping and serving clients.

  6. Have a Strategic Growth Plan:

Streamline, automate, and outsource tasks to save time and increase profitability.

Utilize AI tools and technologies to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Consider scalability and create a profitable workflow.

Focus on tasks that align with personal passion and outsource or systematize other tasks.

Embrace the CEO role by delegating and focusing on growth opportunities.

We hope you found these initial steps to monetizing your passions insightful and inspiring!

170 | How to Turn Your Passions into a Profitable Business - Part 1

[00:00:00] Danielle: Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of creating a career or a business. Based on my passions, and I think I always knew that it was possible. I don't think I ever doubted that I could do that, but I just didn't know how. I didn't, first of all, I didn't really know like what is my passion?

[00:00:23] Danielle: What are the options that are out there for me when it comes to my career? Or a business. And so I didn't really know what was possible or how to turn my passions into profit, which is why I think this topic is so interesting. And I know that there's a lot of people who say, you know, sometimes you shouldn't turn your passions into profit.

[00:00:45] Danielle: You should keep your hobbies, your hobbies, or you should keep your passions, your passions and your career should be something totally different. And while I agree with that, sometimes I also am [00:01:00] really clear on the fact that I do think you can create a profitable, thriving business based on things that you are passionate about.

[00:01:08] Danielle: And the reason I believe this is because. I have done this. I have been able to build a business based on my passions. My passions lie in connection and community, and building relationships with people, having conversations, coaching, teaching, hosting events, and this is what I do for my business. This is how I make money in my business is through all of these things that I am extremely passionate about, and I've seen other people do the exact same thing, whether they have product-based businesses or they have service-based businesses, or they have.

[00:01:47] Danielle: Online, digital businesses, whatever that looks like. They have turned their passions and things that they are really talented in into profitable businesses. And so I've seen this happen again and again, and so [00:02:00] I want people to know it is possible. And so that's why I wanted to do this episode. So I hope you're excited.

[00:02:07] Danielle: We are gonna dive into how to turn your passions. Into a profitable business. Let's go ahead and dive in. I wanna share with you the six steps that I actually take our clients through when they are wanting to monetize their passions, or maybe they're going through a pivot in their business, or maybe they're not even sure what the next steps are and what they wanna pursue. So I wanna share with you how, what are, what do these six steps look like?

[00:02:38] Danielle: We're gonna go over three of them today, and then we're gonna go over it. Three of them in the next episode. So step number one is identifying your passions. So I want you to make a list of things that you love to do or things that you are naturally gifted at. So questions to ask yourself to identify what [00:03:00] some of your passions are.

[00:03:01] Danielle: Are. What are you naturally gifted at? What are you naturally good at? What fulfills you? What gives you energy? What truly matters to you? And what are some things that come naturally to you but are maybe hard or difficult for other people? So we all have unique gifts and abilities that we don't even think twice about.

[00:03:28] Danielle: I'll give you an example. So as you all know, we host in-person events with our community and something that I really love is that our team that we have right now that helps us plan events. Um, we actually work with a company called Gather, and they have been on the podcast before, Siana and Brianna.

[00:03:48] Danielle: They're amazing and they have just such a talent for envisioning what an event not only feels like and what are some details that are gonna be a part of the event that [00:04:00] will really help the event to thrive, but also the decor and how the event looks. So from the moment that you walk in, you know, we want.

[00:04:10] Danielle: Our guests to have a feeling, right? We want them to feel welcomed. We want them to feel, um, excited. We want them to feel connected. And a lot of that is to do with the decor and how it looks. And what I love about these ladies is that they are so naturally talented at making an event look a certain way, and they know how to do that.

[00:04:35] Danielle: Now, I personally. I know what I like, but I don't know how to make it look that way, if that makes sense. Right. And so what I love is when I'm wor, when we're working with them, they will put together some ideas on like a Pinterest board and I'll get to look at that, those ideas and say, yes, that's exactly what I love, but I don't know it until I see it.

[00:04:56] Danielle: And so that is just one example of [00:05:00] how. Some people are just naturally gifted at design and decor, right? Other people are naturally gifted at finances and numbers. Some people are naturally gifted at strategizing and brainstorming and coaching. Other people are super organized and know how to create systems and processes within businesses.

[00:05:21] Danielle: Others are really naturally gifted at connecting and build building relationships with people, right? So, Figure out, okay, what are you specifically naturally gifted in? And is that something that you are also passionate about? Because there are some things that we are naturally gifted in, but we're not necessarily passionate about those things.

[00:05:42] Danielle: So, What we wanna find is we wanna find the things that we are passionate about and naturally gifted in, and those things, when we can figure out what those things are and the intersection of those things is what can build a really [00:06:00] strong foundation for a profitable. Business. So I want you to ask yourself some of those questions now.

[00:06:07] Danielle: That's step number one, identifying your passions, identifying things that you're good at, and then step number two is how can you monetize those passions? So when you have a list of all the different things that you're passionate about, all the things that you're gifted in, then I want you to write down a list, a big, long list.

[00:06:29] Danielle: So I want you to think of like, A hundred ideas of how you could potentially monetize those passions. Now if you are struggling with figuring out, okay, how can I monetize some of these passions? Google it or go to chat g p t, if you haven't used it yet, um, you can listen to one of my previous episodes and I talk about that and how we use it in our business.

[00:06:52] Danielle: But you can go to chat, g p T and you can say, Uh, hey, these are my specific passions and these are my [00:07:00] specific things that I'm talented in. What are some business ideas based on these passions or based on these skill sets? So you can ask it. That question. You can also ask it what are some ways to monetize this specific skillset?

[00:07:16] Danielle: So ask ch chat, g p T, ask other people, Google it. I promise you, you can come up with at least 50, if not a hundred ideas of how you could monetize those passions. And have fun with this. So I've done this with clients before where we have put these ideas all on colorful, sticky notes, right? So we write down all these ideas on colorful stick sticky notes.

[00:07:42] Danielle: So it's kind of a fun visual RA way to write down some of your ideas. Now, some of them, some of these ideas that you have, they might feel silly or you might be like, I don't even know if I wanna wanna do this. It doesn't matter. The process of actually writing down these ideas is super [00:08:00] powerful. Cuz as you start to think of ideas, even if they're ones that you know, you're not gonna pursue it, has you think about other things that you're like, oh actually that would be really cool.

[00:08:10] Danielle: Um, that is something that I actually would love to do or integrate into my business. Right. Okay, so once you have those a hundred things, um, minimum of 50, but if you can come up with a hundred even better, then I want you to split those ideas into three different categories. Now, the benefit of having them on.

[00:08:32] Danielle: Sticky notes is that you can do this really easily. You can have three different piles, and then you can take each and every sticky note and put it in these three, three categories. Category number one is the ideas that make you really excited and things that you could actually see yourself pursuing. So this might be an idea that you've already thought of before, maybe you're even currently pursuing it, and currently, um, have a [00:09:00] business around it.

[00:09:00] Danielle: Then put that in that specific category. Category number two are ideas that are really exciting and sound really fun, and they're things that you do want to pursue, but. Maybe not right now. So maybe something that you don't currently have capacity for or time for, or it's something that you might think is like a future idea.

[00:09:23] Danielle: So I want you to put that in category two. And then category three are ideas that don't really excite you very much. So maybe they're, I, they're ideas that you wrote down because, you know, I told you that you had to have 50 or a hundred ideas, but you're not super excited about them. Or, you know, the more you think about it, the more you think, okay, this is actually not something that I could see myself doing or pursuing.

[00:09:47] Danielle: Okay, so now once you have those things, this is where it gets really, really fun and exciting, is you can take those category. Now I want you to take category one [00:10:00] and category two, and what I want you to do is I actually want you to build a. Timeline of what you could do first and what could build upon each other.

[00:10:13] Danielle: So I want to just give you kind of an example, right? Okay. So let's just give an example of my specific business. Let's say I wrote down. These are things that would be in my category one and category two. One of those things could be podcasting, launching a podcast. Another thing could be coaching.

[00:10:32] Danielle: Another thing could be creating a course. Another thing could be maybe monetizing my social media with brand partnerships. Another thing could be hosting events. And then let's say one thing on my list was writing a book. So what. I would wanna do with those ideas. If they were in category one or category two doesn't matter, I would create a timeline.

[00:10:57] Danielle: So what I would do is I would say, okay, what [00:11:00] do I need to do first in order to build upon and allow me to basically achieve the other things and create a domino of, so what should be my focus goal? The. Thing that I should focus on first that is going to make all the other things easier to accomplish.

[00:11:21] Danielle: So the example that I would give for, for my business is number one, what I would start with would be, Podcasting because podcasting would allow me to make those connections, to create that community, to get that visibility that would allow me to do the coaching and the courses and the events, and monetizing my social media and being able to write a book one day, right?

[00:11:52] Danielle: So those are things that actually create a domino effect in my. Business and the [00:12:00] trajectory of where I want my business to go. So what I want you to do is do this for yourselves. Create those categories. Figure out what is the focus goal, what is something that you can focus on first, a passion that could create a domino effect for the other things that you want to accomplish as well.

[00:12:18] Danielle: Okay? Step number three is getting clear on who you want to serve. Once you have that. First thing that you're going to pursue, I want you to think about who is the person that you truly want to help. And I want you to get super, super clear on that. And I want you to be really specific. So let's use the example of my podcast now.

[00:12:41] Danielle: I serve. FEMA entrepreneurs who are wanting to grow and scale their businesses and create a profitable business based on their passions, right? What we're talking about today, when I actually go into like, who is my ideal, ideal client, I'm open to. [00:13:00] All women entrepreneurs, no matter what stage of life or journey they're in, but my really specific ideal client is someone who is a mom.

[00:13:09] Danielle: Someone who wants more time, freedom, and financial freedom. Someone who wants to be able to build a business around their passions and be able to scale it in a way that actually. Creates that flexibility and that freedom for them. So knowing this and knowing who my ideal client is, allows me to create content around the things that they are currently dealing with or struggling with, or things that they are passionate about.

[00:13:38] Danielle: So I'm gonna be talking about goal setting and productivity, and I'm gonna be talking about monetizing and different ways to gain exposure for your business. I'm also going to talk about motherhood as well, and not all of the people that listen to this podcast are moms, and not every single client that I have is a mom, and that's [00:14:00] not a requirement for being a part of this community.

[00:14:02] Danielle: But I do find that a lot of people that are attracted to our community are people who are moms or they're people that want. A lot of time flexibility. They wanna be able to spend lots of time with their loved ones. And so when I talk about being a mom and structuring my time in a way that is flexible because I want to be present, I.

[00:14:26] Danielle: For my kids. It resonates with the moms in this community, but it also resonates with people who just want a flexible schedule and a flexible business, and they're not about the burnout. They're not about working 24 hours and completely burning themselves out. That's where knowing who your specific ideal client is, what their passions are, what their desires are, and also what their struggles are and what they.

[00:14:55] Danielle: Want to learn from you is so incredibly important. [00:15:00] Now, this is also important if you have a product-based business because how can you continue to create or source products that help your ideal client, and how can you market those products without understanding who specifically you're talking to?

[00:15:16] Danielle: Because if you try to talk to. Everyone really you're talking to no one. But the more specific and the more niche you can get, the better. Because you're going to be really touching on a lot of those pain points that your ideal client is currently struggling with. And so they're gonna think, wow, this person knows me inside out.

[00:15:38] Danielle: This is the person that I want to purchase from, whether that be their products. Your products, your services, or your courses. Or programs. Okay? We are going to stop there for today. I think I'd given you enough homework for the day, so please actually do this exercise because it is so incredibly [00:16:00] eye-opening and so exciting, even if you already have a business that you're running.

[00:16:04] Danielle: I would highly recommend to do this exercise cuz it just creates these creative ideas of what you could do for your business, how to bring more passion and excitement into the business that you're already running. Or maybe if you're feeling like your business needs a pivot or you're not really sure what to pursue next, this can be an incredible way to get clarity on that.

[00:16:27] Danielle: So I hope you enjoyed this episode. Tune into the next episode cuz we are gonna be going over step four, five, and six to turning your passions into a profitable business. 171 | How to Turn Your Passions into a Profitable Business - Part 2

[00:00:00] Danielle: Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. Today is part two of our Passion to Profit series, how to Turn Your Passions into a Profitable Business. So if you missed our last episode, please go back and tune into that one. It's super important that you listen to that one first. It is episode one 70 as we go through steps one to three on turning your passions into a profitable business.

[00:00:27] Danielle: And then today we're gonna be going through steps four. Four to six. So today we're diving into all things a marketing strategy and sales, and having a growth plan. So buckle up because we have a lot to cover today. So let's go ahead and get started.

[00:00:44] Danielle: All right, let's go ahead and talk about step four to turning your passions into a profitable business. So step four is creating a strong marketing strategy. So how will you reach the right people [00:01:00] at the right time with the right.

[00:01:02] Danielle: Message. So now that you know who your ideal clients are, because we talked about that in the previous episode, figuring out who your ideal clients are. So now we wanna figure out how are we actually going to reach those people? How are we going to attract those people to ourselves? So to know how to attract your ideal client, you have to understand and you have to know where that ideal client is hanging out, right?

[00:01:31] Danielle: So, Where are they most active? Both online and offline. So this could include social media, it could be Google. Maybe they're researching and you know, Googling things about your specific industry, your product, or your service that you offer. Maybe they're listening to podcasts or maybe they watch a lot of YouTube videos.

[00:01:55] Danielle: Uh, Where specifically online are they [00:02:00] spending the most time? Now, the way that you're going to find this out is through actually asking them and interviewing them. We have an entire section on this in our Action Takers Club program where we actually get you to interview your ideal clients, and it is so powerful when our students.

[00:02:19] Danielle: Do this because they really get to know intimately who their ideal clients are and where specifically they're hanging out. Because you might be putting a ton of time and effort and energy into a specific platform, but really your ideal client is somewhere completely different. So maybe an example of this is you are spending all of your time on Instagram, let.

[00:02:42] Danielle: Say, but then you find out that the specific way that your ideal client is searching for what you have to offer is through Google or it's through Pinterest, right? So those are things that we really want to understand so that we can make sure we're showing up [00:03:00] where our ideal client is. Okay, so that is the online side of things, but also think about where are they showing up in person?

[00:03:08] Danielle: What events are they attending? Are they going to the gym or a specific workout class? Are they going to specific restaurants or coffee shops? Those are really important details to know as well because if we know where they are going, both online and in person, then we can make sure that we show up in front of them and we can look for different ways, creative ways that we can market our products and services.

[00:03:35] Danielle: Within those spaces. So this is one of my favorite things to strategize with for my clients, is figuring out creative ways to get in front of their ideal clients. One of, I believe the best ways you can do this is through the power of collaborations. We talk about collaborations so much on this podcast, but how can you leverage the power of [00:04:00] collaborating with other people to get in front of other people's?

[00:04:03] Danielle: Audiences. So instead of just trying to build your own audience, of course that is something that I would absolutely recommend that you do, that you build your own audience as well. But how can you maximize the potential of getting in front of your ideal client by getting in front of an audience that's already built full of your ideal clients?

[00:04:25] Danielle: Examples of this could be blog posting on someone else's blog. It could be doing a collaboration on Instagram. Maybe you're doing a joint live video with someone, or maybe you're doing a guest post. You could do an email list swap with someone. You could be a speaker at someone else's virtual or in-person event, or you can host your own.

[00:04:48] Danielle: In-person or virtual event and bring on other speakers and collaborate that way. So there are so many different ways to get in front of other people's audiences to grow your own community, [00:05:00] but then you also need a way to engage them and really incentivize them to join your own community. Whether that be joining your email, us joining your Facebook group, having them follow you on Instagram now.

[00:05:15] Danielle: I would highly recommend prioritizing specifically your email list. I talk about this a lot again on this podcast, and I will continue to talk about it because I think it's one of the most important things that you can do for your business, especially if you want a sustainable one, is don't put all of your eggs in the basket of social media because.

[00:05:40] Danielle: Algorithms change, things change. And so we need to make sure that we are building our businesses smart and strategically. And I believe that building an email list is a great way to do that. So I won't go into too much detail on this because I did an entire episode all about this. It's episode 1 [00:06:00] 55, and on that episode I talk about 10 different ways to build a profitable email list.

[00:06:06] Danielle: So you can go to listen to that. I would highly recommend, honestly, Listen to that right after this episode. So again, that's episode 1 55. It's 10 ways to build a profitable email list. So if you have been sleeping on that, if you have been, um, prac, uh, Not prioritizing. If you have been procrastinating on that, don't procrastinate anymore.

[00:06:34] Danielle: Send me a dm. If you're like, this seems overwhelming, I don't even know where to start. Send me a dm. I'm gonna send you all of the resources in order to start to build your email list. This is so, so important you guys. So, Definitely do that and listen to that episode. Okay? I'm gonna get off my soapbox all about email list building.

[00:06:54] Danielle: Um, but it's definitely one of the most important things that you can do. So I can't stress this enough. Okay, [00:07:00] so now once you have a really clear marketing strategy on how you're gonna get in front of your ideal clients, And what platform or platforms you're gonna be using. I recommend, especially if you are a solo entrepreneur, and maybe it's just you or maybe you have a very small team, start with one platform and then repurpose that content to your email list.

[00:07:27] Danielle: Okay? And then you can start to add. More platforms as you start to grow your team and as you start to have more capacity. Because trying to be on every single platform, trying to grow on every single platform, one is exhausting. And two, you're not gonna do a great job if you are, um, just wearing yourself too thin.

[00:07:49] Danielle: So start with one platform and then you can go from there. And as you start to grow your business, you can work towards automating and outsourcing some of these marketing, um, aspects so that you [00:08:00] can start adding other avenues. So I want you to ask yourself, what is going to have the most return on my time invested?

[00:08:11] Danielle: Ask yourself that question. Okay. Step number five is develop an effective sales strategy and become confident in selling your products and services. So the more directly and effectively you can solve your ideal client and customers problems, the more you will sell. So shift your mindset to helping and serving your ideal clients.

[00:08:38] Danielle: Be obsessed with solving your ideal client's problems and serving those ideal clients. And I promise you, if you focus more about how you can add value to their lives, you will automatically sell more. Take the focus off of yourself and instead ask. [00:09:00] How can I make their lives better? How can I truly support my ideal client to get the results that they want and need?

[00:09:11] Danielle: If you focus on that, everything will change for you. So approaching sales with a service mindset and an abundance mindset. And if you do this, I promise you, you will sell. Way more. Okay. Step number six. The final step is to have a strategic growth plan. So I want you to think about how can you grow your business in a way that gives you back your time and increases your profit.

[00:09:42] Danielle: So ask yourself, what can you streamline? What can you potentially automate? What can you outsource? And we are living in a time where AI gonna give us so much of our time back because there are so many tools nowadays [00:10:00] that we can actually utilize. To be able to streamline and automate and outsource so much more effectively and efficiently than we could before.

[00:10:11] Danielle: Now, I did a couple of episodes on artificial intelligence, if you want to go check those out. It's episode 1 57 and episode 1 59. I talk about the benefits and the limitations of artificial intelligence, and then I also talk about some of the tools that our team is currently using to save us time and money.

[00:10:34] Danielle: So if you're interested in dipping your toes into that, we also have a completely free resource. It is on our website, and we actually have. 50, actually, it's more than 50. I think it's about 70 at this point. Top AI tools to support you in your business growth. So if you want access to that, it's completely free.

[00:10:56] Danielle: It's a spreadsheet that has all of these different AI [00:11:00] tools that you can use within your business. You can go ahead and search the tools to see what is going to work for you. So go to business babes collective.com/ai tools. Again, that's. Bus business babes collective.com/ai tools. It's completely free.

[00:11:16] Danielle: So download that resource and start to implement some of this because it is so, um, important that as business owners we value our time and make sure that we are really efficient and effective with our time. Another question that I want you to ask yourself is how can you make your business scalable? So this is gonna look different di.

[00:11:41] Danielle: Depending on your business model, depending on if you're product based or service based and depending what your offerings are, but I think it's so important to be able to. Create a profitable workflow so you can wake up in the morning and you can know exactly what steps you [00:12:00] need to implement in your business and what you need to outsource and what you need to automate or create a system for.

[00:12:08] Danielle: So as you grow and as you scale your business, I want you to focus on the things that truly light you up, the things that get you excited going back. Too passion to profit. Sometimes what happens when we start to grow and scale our businesses is that we get so caught up in the weeds of our business. So the day-to-day tasks that we need to do in order to move our businesses forward and we end up resenting our businesses.

[00:12:34] Danielle: So raise your hand if you've ever been there before. I am raising my hand because I have been there before where I'm like, man, I started this. This business because I was passionate about X, Y, Z, but now I'm having to do all of these tasks and these things that I don't wanna be doing anymore. And so it's really important to, as you grow, as you scale, [00:13:00] to make sure that you are.

[00:13:02] Danielle: Focusing on those things that truly let you up so that you can stay in your genius zone and you can have the things that don't get you excited. Those and maybe admin tasks or doing your taxes or bookkeeping, and making sure that you are creating systems for that outsourcing and freeing up more of your time so that you can focus on the growth side and you can actually step into that c e O role.

[00:13:29] Danielle: Of your business. So I'm not saying that every single second of your business is going to be so incredibly fun. There are going to be things in your business that inevitably you don't wanna do. And so I don't want you to get confused with. Oh, Danielle's telling me that I should never do things that I don't wanna do in my business.

[00:13:50] Danielle: That's not what I'm saying. There are always gonna be things in your business that you do, whether that be having a hard conversation, whether that be doing things that are [00:14:00] outside of your comfort zone, pitching yourself for things that feel outside of what you're comfortable doing, and that is the way that you're gonna actually grow and move forward.

[00:14:10] Danielle: And it's not always gonna feel comfortable, however. I do want you to feel passionate overall about what you are creating and the day-to-day of what you are doing within your business. So there you have it.
