transcript

[00:00:00] Breanna: All of you women, positive, excited, big visionaries, but executors as well and to be able to work together and pivot so efficiently. I think for me, I was just like, man, I wanna work with these women. All the time. Like what a great team. If you can pivot last minute on things in peace, in rest, but also just getting things done.

[00:00:24] Breanna: Okay, this didn't work, but what can work? What do we have? Being resourceful, and I really saw that just come together with each and every one of you. And so that was. A huge takeaway for me. I was really proud to be a part of this team.

[00:00:38] Danielle: Welcome to the Business Saves Collective podcast. I'm your host, Danielle.

[00:00:41] Danielle: We, in this podcast, you'll learn tangible business tips and strategies on how to grow successfully and sustainably. We'll also interview season entre. So you can listen in on their stories and see behind the scenes of what it took to grow and scale their businesses. Let's dive in [00:01:00] as we discuss the wild, exciting, crazy challenging rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship.

[00:01:06] Danielle: Hello everyone. Welcome to the Business Babes Collective podcast. I'm so excited for this episode. We. Finally doing a recap of the Dream Big conference that we hosted on March 10th in Vancouver, well just outside of Vancouver, and I actually brought on our amazing team that helped us put this event together.

[00:01:32] Danielle: It was. So, so incredible and just there were so many things about the event. So I can't wait to dive in. I can't wait to also share with you just some of the genius behind the scenes that you might not get to, that you might not get to hear from. So let's go ahead and jump right in. I'm gonna get each of our amazing teammates to introduce themselves.

[00:01:54] Danielle: Who they are. They all also have their own businesses. So I'm gonna have them share who they are, their [00:02:00] businesses, and then also how they were involved in the conference in helping to plan and execute. So let's go ahead and dive in. We're gonna start with Hannah. Can you introduce yourselves? Hey, Hannah.

[00:02:13] Danielle: Hi,

[00:02:14] Hannah: I sure can introduce myself. My name is Hannah. I am the operations manager with Business Babes Collective, and I also own a photography business with my husband

[00:02:26] Hannah: for

[00:02:27] Hannah: Business Babes Events. Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. Yeah. Until the wonderful Jerusalem joined our ranks, it was mostly day of event support that I did and then, Beefed out the day of coordination and that that gave me room to be the day of photographer, which is really great.

[00:02:43] Hannah: And leading up to the conference, I'm the vendor and sponsor coordinator. So review applications with Danielle, first point of contact for the vendors and sponsors. I handle the correspondence, getting everything planned and set up for the event. And then the day of the [00:03:00] event, I can just fly around with my camera and have some.

[00:03:03] Danielle: So, yeah. Yes, so, so good. Yeah. And I mean, a big part of what we do, if you guys are new to our community, or maybe you haven't been to an event before, we have a lot of communication and these are things that. People don't see, they're all like, behind the scenes is like when you attend an event and you see there's drinks, there's food, there's coffee, there's this or that.

[00:03:28] Danielle: Often you don't think about, okay, what actually goes into booking those vendors, um, securing that communication, all of it. And that's where, yeah, Hannah is that first contact, making sure that they have all the information that they need, load in everything. So it's a lot of. Time and dedication that gets put into that, leading up to the event.

[00:03:48] Danielle: So yeah. Thank you for sharing that, Hannah. Uh, awesome. Okay, Brie, go ahead and introduce yourself.

[00:03:54] Breanna: Hi, I'm Brianna. I'm with Gather Events and Co. And we were [00:04:00] involved in the planning process of the whole event and executing the event day. So that just involved like making sure setup was taken care of, making sure the day flowed that everything was in order, if anything, you know, needed to be resolved, just being hands on deck to, to be available to just make the whole event happen.

[00:04:22] Breanna: And we also got to be panelist speakers. So that was super fun. We really enjoyed that opportunity to just share a little bit about ourselves and our journey and. Yeah, it was really just a, a super fun, awesome experience. I love

[00:04:39] Tsion: it.

[00:04:40] Jerusalem: Oh, so good. Cion.

[00:04:42] Tsion: Hello, my name is Cion. I am. The other half of Gather events in CO and we had the great honor.

[00:04:51] Tsion: Brianna kind of did a little bit of that intro, but we had the great honor and privilege of being alongside of this team and working very closely with the, [00:05:00] uh, business Babes team and, uh, planning design decor. And as Brianna mentioned, we also were panelists as well. I got to lead a couple panels, which was super fun.

[00:05:10] Tsion: But yeah, we get to. We're gathered. We are an event planning and design company based in Vancouver. We had so much fun. I feel like we're gonna have such a fun day talking about everything. But yeah, that's a little bit about us and I'm sure we'll get into it a little bit more. Super excited to be

[00:05:25] Danielle: here. I love it.

[00:05:26] Jerusalem: And then Jerusalem, can you introduce yourself? Hi, I'm Jerusalem. I have a business management agency called To Be the Company. And yes, I. Was the date of event coordinator for the conference, and I worked closely with everyone on the team. Um, but leading up to the conference, I was supporting business based collective in terms of getting our volunteer team all organized.

[00:05:52] Danielle: I feel like I also wanna add to that you were the, when people walked in, you were that kind of first like friendly face of [00:06:00] just welcoming them in. It was either one, it was either you or one of the people on the volunteer team, and you did such a great job of just making people feel welcomed when they walked in the room and walked in the space, which is something that's really important to, to us and to me, just that people feel comfortable.

[00:06:19] Danielle: Walking in for the first time, because I think when you attend a networking event, I get this all the time from people from our community, they're like, oh, I really wanna come to your event, but I'm gonna, like, I don't have anyone to go with or, you know, I'm gonna be coming by myself. And I don't know, this is scary.

[00:06:34] Danielle: And to, I totally get it because, To be honest with you, I feel the same way when I'm going to other people's events. Like I actually get really nervous when I'm going to anyone else's event, other and other than my own, because when it's my own, I, I know what to expect. You know, I, I'm in my own element, but when you walk into a room, you don't know what to expect.

[00:06:54] Danielle: You don't know who's gonna be there, you're going by yourself. It's scary. And so to have that like first point. [00:07:00] You feel welcome when you walk in the room and you know what's happening. Where to go, where to sit. All the things is, is so, so key. So thanks for running that. Team Jerusalem. That's su super helpful.

[00:07:13] Danielle: Okay. I'm gonna dive into the first question that I have. So what were some of the highlights of the day? Like when you think about the Dream Big conference? We, so for those of you who don't know, this was our first full day conference that we hosted in Vancouver or. Bc, I guess I should say it was just outside of Vancouver and Pit Meadows at Sky Hangar, which is a gorgeous venue by the way, which we can talk about as well.

[00:07:37] Danielle: But what was the highlight? We, we were there at, we were there super early in the morning and then of course there for Teardown, but the event itself, was there anything that stood out to you guys? Whether it was a, something that a panelist said, or maybe it was just the atmosphere in general? I would love to hear your guys' thoughts.

[00:07:56] Danielle: So anyone who wants to jump.

[00:07:58] Tsion: Yeah,

[00:07:58] Breanna: Danielle, [00:08:00] I have a lot of takeaways from this event. The whole event was just such a great atmosphere from the time the women, the VIPs walked in. It was just this aha wow moment. You know, they came in there, they got their little v i p goody bags, and you could just see the excitement.

[00:08:18] Breanna: They were just so happy to be there. And when you started the workshop too, it was just very engaging and you could tell people were really hungry. For everything that this event provided. I loved the vulnerability of the speakers, all the panelists. It was so authentic and just down to earth. Everything from easy daisies.

[00:08:40] Breanna: When she talked about, you know, her stroke and just mad, I started tearing up in that moment of just the challenges she's overcome. And I think when people just get real and those struggles, we can really relate cuz we all. Struggles. And so yeah, I love the questions and topics [00:09:00] presented at the conference.

[00:09:01] Breanna: It was just super in depth and things that I think people were hungry to talk about, but not necessarily willing to go there or lead that way. And so you could tell, yeah, people were just very engaged in the whole. Topics of the event as well as the diversity in women. I loved that. The panelists and speakers, there was just a diversity in age, race, experience in business as well as mothers and single women, which was super engaging just to see the different walks of life.

[00:09:34] Breanna: It was very relatable for everyone. And yeah, just very engaging atmosphere overall. So lots to take away. I could go on and on, but I'll let someone else talk.

[00:09:46] Danielle: I love that. Thanks for sharing. Brie.

[00:09:49] Hannah: I wanna speak to the atmosphere. Kind of going back to what you said earlier about preparing. Danielle, like all the work that goes into preparing, every person that [00:10:00] walked into this event was just like, oh my gosh.

[00:10:03] Hannah: Like every person I talked to is just like, I've been to networking events around Vancouver. They are not nearly as warm and welcoming. It's a who's who, and they come in. They're just like, not only do I feel educated, I feel welcome. I feel like I have sisters already, and even people who didn't know anybody or vendors, sponsors, attendees, everybody had something to say along those lines.

[00:10:25] Hannah: And I love that. I mean, that doesn't just happen overnight. Danielle, you've been building that community, that supportive community for years. So we opened with the mastermind, like, or sorry, opened with the v i p, which has a ton of mastermind members, uh, attended the v I P reception. And so it's like from the very beginning of the day, it laid the groundwork and like set the atmosphere for people who are bringing the values, uh, that.

[00:10:52] Hannah: Set out in Business Babes and able to create that connection and build that atmosphere and as this, as the day went on, [00:11:00] like people consistently building on top of that groundwork and just creating a more and more open empowering and welcoming atmosphere. And I think that's amazing cuz. Like you said, with the event itself, doesn't happen overnight.

[00:11:13] Hannah: There's a lot of legwork that's gone into that. There's a lot of connection. There's a lot of community and a consistent nurturing that's happened over the course of the years that has gone into moments and events. That have that kind of

[00:11:27] Danielle: atmosphere, so. Aw, thank you. And also, yeah, I mean it's so cool to see that come to life.

[00:11:35] Danielle: Cuz obviously when you, when you run a business, I mean, I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this. You know, you set your, set your values and your mission statement and like all those, all those things that, you know, you put on your website and have there. But you know, it's really important for me to, like you said, like have those things come to life.

[00:11:53] Danielle: And I will say though, It doesn't happen without also a team supporting [00:12:00] that can bring that. And then also the, I think one of the things too is what I've recognized over the past several years, cuz we've been hosting events for over eight years now, and I think. Not only, yeah, that obviously the team planning the event, but then the speakers that, that we bring on also set the tone and, and then the members of the community.

[00:12:24] Danielle: So really it's like a collective effort from everyone in the room that kind of creates that space. And so, yeah, it's super inspiring to see that come together. And I, I, I did feel something different at this event. Like it was, I don't know if there's something about it that just. Different and I'm, I'm really grateful, so thanks for sharing.

[00:12:44] Danielle: Okay. So I also wanted to talk to that. So next question is actually all about like the atmosphere and what the atmosphere was like at the event. I know, Hannah, you, you spoke to that as well, but did you guys feel like there was [00:13:00] a sense of community and connection like between the people. Obviously like the speakers, the sponsors, the vendors, and then also just the attendees themselves.

[00:13:10] Danielle: Like how did you feel like that flow went? I know we had a couple actually things which we can talk about maybe at the end because there's like takeaways that we had. I really wish we had a little bit more time for actual like intentional networking where it was like organized. It was something that I noticed was.

[00:13:28] Danielle: Conversations were happening, happening so naturally. But I do wish, like, I, I think that's, that's a point for the ne for the next event that I really wanna implement is, is more intentional networking. But I would love to hear your guys' thoughts on that and maybe what you noticed for. What was happening for the event?

[00:13:45] Danielle: Yeah. I

[00:13:45] Tsion: think for our business even, we live, Brianna and I live by the motto, there's room for you at our table. And so I think when you just live by that and then you meet people like you, Danielle, like Hannah, [00:14:00] Like Jerusalem, who also carry this heart of like, Hey, there's, there's room for you at our table.

[00:14:05] Tsion: And I love that it's not, there's room for you in this space and you just find a place where you feel like you fit in, but there's actually room for you at the table. And I feel like. We encompass that so much as a team. And so I feel like when people came in, literally as they're going to their tables, Hey, there's room for you here.

[00:14:24] Tsion: Hey, can I heard a lot of, Hey, do you mind if I sit here? Absolutely. You can sit here. Hey, let me, Hey, somebody comes in. Um, hey, let me bring you to a table, walk you over to a table. Let me introduce you to some people. But I think there was just this warmth as soon as people came in. Immediately it was this bubbling, if you would say, of anticipation of what is to come.

[00:14:46] Tsion: And so I think there was a different level of expectancy like this. You can see it like people came in like, I have no idea what to expect, but I'm ready for whatever today has to offer. And so I think it's super important for people to [00:15:00] know that like there's room for you here. Like there's room for you to grow.

[00:15:03] Tsion: There's room for you to be vulnerable. There's room for you honestly to fail. There's room for you to have grace. There's room for you to learn. There's, there's room for you, right? And so to know that people came into that and then especially. As, uh, we had the opportunity to actually talk with people after, beforehand, during your like totally in game mode and making sure operations is happening, you know, tasks and whatnot.

[00:15:28] Tsion: But when we actually took a moment to stop, it was just like, oh my gosh, like, I haven't felt so seen before. And I love that in a room of 200 people that people felt seen, right. Could see themselves. Brianna talked about it earlier. They could see themselves on the panel. They can see themselves, you know, we're a newer business.

[00:15:45] Tsion: We haven't, we're not even two years old yet. Oh my gosh. There's women. A black woman and a white woman, and they're doing business together, and they're not even two, but look at the perspective that they have. I can see myself there, right? [00:16:00] There's a mom, a single mom, there's a mom with twins. There's um, a mom who has both, you know, parents who are entrepreneur.

[00:16:07] Tsion: Like you just saw it all right? And so I think it was such a beautiful representation that. In every aspect. And that was intentional too, right? It wasn't just like, oh, well we have awesome people. It was like, who do we know that can help also create that culture and create that atmosphere and contribute to it?

[00:16:25] Tsion: And so it was really just really beautiful to see. The excitement of people coming in, but then also getting to talk to them later on and just being like, oh my gosh, also, this conference is totally gonna be longer next time. And so, you know, try it out the first time. We're like, okay, people are eager, people are hungry.

[00:16:42] Tsion: People want more. And so it's great. I mean, y'all are pulling that out of us. And so it's gonna be good and we'll have definitely more time for that networking and. Honestly, I was very blessed by it. My heart still to this day was like, what, three, four weeks later? Where I'm still overflowing [00:17:00] from that.

[00:17:00] Tsion: But powerful atmosphere, um, and it only gets

[00:17:04] Jerusalem: more powerful from here. Oh, I love that. Yeah. Jerusalem, we just wanted to, uh, take along with what TI said about. Intentionality coming in. I was at the door and before we even started, still the VIP session, people are lining up and they're all giddy, excited, and the lineup was even starting to run outside and I was like, uhoh, it's gonna start raining, but we're just having quick, you know, text points for some people in the lineup and they're like, we're so excited.

[00:17:33] Jerusalem: And Hannah taking photos, right when we opened the door and like everyone came for the most part, looked like they were. To receive. And I don't know if it's cause it's a morning event, a cold day event, but just seeing that preparation, that intentionality, that level of expectation of I'm coming and I'm coming to a conference in this caliber.

[00:17:53] Jerusalem: And um, yeah, it's just encouraging to see that. Like just starting from the beginning. So right at the [00:18:00] door, maybe even the parking lot .

[00:18:01] Danielle: I love that so much. And I think, I think it's true too cuz I know there's a lot of people who, you know, they had to shift things around. They had to, for people who maybe have a full-time job, they had to take the full day off work.

[00:18:14] Danielle: They had to figure out care for their kids. Like there were so many details that I think people had to. Figure out in order to be there, in order to actually be in the room and be present. So I think that added an extra level of, like you said, like intentionality, expectation, excitement because it's like, okay, I have put this day aside to learn, to connect, to be inspired.

[00:18:43] Danielle: And so it's really cool cuz I. I love our pop-up events too, like, and we'll definitely have more of those as well, just like pop-up networking and, you know, evening events and those are so great. But you know, you have all of the baggage, let's say, of that day and you're kind of [00:19:00] bringing that in to the event, right?

[00:19:02] Danielle: So you've had like a, maybe a full day of work or a full day with your kids and it's just like kind of chaos. And then you get there and you're like, yeah, it's flustered or whatever. And I feel like because it was a full day event, there was, there was just a d. Feeling. I, I totally agree. So thanks for bringing that up.

[00:19:18] Danielle: I love that. Okay, so I wanna talk about this because I, I shared this a little bit with a few people that were at the event and they were just in shock. So this poor team, so I actually brought the idea, actually the idea for the conference was originally shared. In December at the last event and just threw it out there.

[00:19:39] Danielle: I was feeling, you know, usually I don't, I don't share things unless it's like, okay, it's booked, it's ready, we're ready to go. But for whatever reason, I was feeling inspired in the moment. So I shared we're gonna do a full day conference in the new year, and then the whole team was like, wait, what? What we are, oh, okay.

[00:19:55] Danielle: So often that's how, that's how my brain works, you guys. So that's the beauty of, you know, working [00:20:00] with me is sometimes it's just like, Hey, we're doing this thing. It's like, okay. Let's do it. Uh, but this, this event was actually planned in basically just over a month. And so for anyone who is in the event planning space or has planned an event before, it's not a great timeline.

[00:20:19] Danielle: I'll just say that it's probably not the best timeline. To have about five weeks to plan it or, and maybe even less than that. And so, anyways, I would love to hear your guys' experience of that. And, and feel free to like, share parts of the, you know, the chaos that came along with planning an event on such a short notice and maybe encouragement for anyone who is planning an event.

[00:20:43] Danielle: But then I also kind of wanna share the flip side because I don't know, I, I, I kind of, for me, as someone who, who talks to a lot of entre. I think it's really easy to get into this zone of, Hey, I wanna do this thing, and oh, I'm gonna [00:21:00] do it next year, or I'm gonna do it two years from now. And we like, we kind of like push out our big.

[00:21:07] Danielle: Goals that we have for ourselves, and we just keep like pushing them and pushing them and pushing them. And I think sometimes the urgency and the chaos of putting something together where maybe it's not all perfect. Yes, maybe it adds a li a little level of stress, but there's something kind of magical about it too.

[00:21:24] Danielle: So I would love to kind of speak to both sides. So who wants to jump in, talk about the chaos of. Planning done such a short timeline. Yes, Hannah. I can get started.

[00:21:35] Hannah: I will definitely say with Danielle at the helm of anything there, action will always be taken. And she's always got her eye on the horizon.

[00:21:46] Hannah: And so, yeah, I love that so much and it's, it is a lot of fun. There are definitely perks to knowing that you've got a deadline. It's almost like time blocking out your day. You're like, oh, I only have this much time. [00:22:00] I have to do it now. And I have this much time to do it, and you have to hit your goals faster or just more effectively.

[00:22:07] Hannah: And that was really great because like coming off of it, I was just like, okay, like I set out my time. I was working for this much time each day. I had my goals in mind, uh, for contacting vendors. And that was really great. Pushed it forward. There was a, it created momentum. Momentum creates more momentum, which is really.

[00:22:28] Hannah: But I will say we did encounter a couple hiccups, mostly because the world doesn't move at that pace all the time, the rest of the world doesn't. So, you know, looking for specific sponsorships or vendors or things along those lines that we really wanted to work with. Unfortunately, their promotional schedule for the next quarter was already planned, and so they couldn't, unfortunately take a advantage of the opportunity to be part of the Dream Big conference.

[00:22:54] Hannah: But, It did make room for other vendors that were really good fits or other sponsors that were [00:23:00] really good fits, and so the end of the day for the right thing, The right people will fall into place. So

[00:23:08] Hannah: I'm not gonna lie, I had a little bit of fear a couple of weeks before the conference. I was just like, I don't see any tickets rolling it again. So got getting to see the trend of ticket sales change based on a shorter promotion period. We actually continued to have promotion for the event after the event, or not for the event, but for vendors and sponsors, just because we had such a short promotion period. But ticket sales did pick up, we. Pretty much a packed house, which was great.

[00:23:33] Hannah: And so it's a lesson to my fear that it's gonna be

[00:23:35] Danielle: okay. So, yeah. Well, the, well, the other thing that's funny about that, thanks so much for sharing, Hannah, and I love that you touched on both sides of it. The other thing that's kind of funny is that. I, in my head, I, and maybe sometimes like ignorance is bliss when it comes to these things, but I was like, yeah, we've done this before.

[00:23:55] Danielle: Like we can do this. And what I kind of forgot instead, it was a full [00:24:00] day conference instead of an evening event. I was like, Well, man, people have to take off. Like if they have a job, they have to check off a full day if they, you know, if they have kids, they need to like figure that out and you know, so yeah, definitely.

[00:24:12] Danielle: Especially, I mean, of course for like vendors and sponsors for sure, but then also for tickets. You know, there's a lot of people that I talked to who were like, oh, I wish I would've known about this, or that type of thing That just. Couldn't get that time off. So that is definitely a learning aspect of things that a full day conference is, is slightly different than a evening pop-up event.

[00:24:36] Hannah: Oh yeah. And you should specify why we had the event so

[00:24:40] Danielle: soon, cuz we haven't said Oh yeah. Oh, okay. Okay. Wait, no, that's actually a good point because people are probably like, why did you put your team through this? That main reason. Is because I'm pregnant and having a baby any day now, basically, and it was funny because when the venue came back and and shared like different dates, we actually could have pushed it.

[00:24:59] Danielle: Further [00:25:00] out. And I was talking to Brent, my husband, and he's like, no, Danielle, like please don't do this to yourself. Like what? Like, please have it earlier. He is like, I'd rather you have like a shorter timeframe to plan this than like move it into, you're about to have a baby the next week. And so, uh, that was the main reason why so.

[00:25:21] Danielle: Just for context for anyone listening, so thanks for sharing that. Hannah. Yeah, Brie. I

[00:25:27] Breanna: think for me it's really awesome, Danielle, that even how last minute it sort of came to pass, you really demonstrated to everyone how to dream big. And that was the whole topic was it's not just all this talk, like you're literally.

[00:25:45] Breanna: Willing to pave the way and be an example to all these women that you're pouring into and teaching and all of that, of what it actually means to step into these risky, vulnerable [00:26:00] places to execute these dreams and visions we have. And so for me it one of the biggest takeaways. From that planning it so quickly was first of all the team, all of you women, positive, excited, big visionaries, but executors as well and to be able to work together and pivot so efficiently.

[00:26:23] Breanna: I think for me, I was just, Like, man, I wanna work with these women all the time. Like, what a great team. If you can pivot last minute on things, in peace, in rest, but also just getting things done. Okay, this didn't work, but what can work? What do we have? Being resourceful, and I really saw that just come together with each and every one of you.

[00:26:44] Breanna: And so that was a huge take away for me. I was really proud to be a part of this.

[00:26:49] Danielle: Thanks for sharing. Brie.

[00:26:51] Tsion: I think Brianna touched on an important thing that I just wanna expand on a little bit is the pivoting. I think that if there's one thing, COVID, cause we [00:27:00] launched our business in 2021, like Peak Covid.

[00:27:04] Tsion: Who does that? But we did anyways.

[00:27:07] Danielle: None. And an event planning, events, planning company, let's, let's launch a in-person events planning company in the middle of Covid. Listen, listen. I

[00:27:17] Tsion: love it. I love it. We had, we had our haters, but we had our supporters. We had to pick our battles. But one thing, one thing I could confidently say we learned in the middle of Covid was how to pivot ok.

[00:27:30] Tsion: Nothing was secure. We would plan an event. Dr. Bonnie would change the thing. And then the next day, these events are shut. And so I feel like we just have that embedded in us now that it's like literally nothing is impossible anymore. So when you're like, we're doing, we're doing an event, we're doing it in March when we're like 20, 24, you're like, no girl, 2023.

[00:27:53] Tsion: We're like, okay, go time. But I think that's just what it is. It's go time, right? And so you gotta figure out, you gotta pick your [00:28:00] battles. Like, am I gonna be super stressed? Am I gonna have anxiety? Like no. It is like Brianna said, like we are dreaming big and we're putting that dreaming big into action.

[00:28:10] Tsion: And I think what's so fun about you is you always keep the vision, you keep it so clear in front of us and so there's no room for there to be too much to overtake that. And then when you have a team that you like and love doing life with, it just actually makes it fun. And so sure it was press. Any event planner would be like, dang, you can't believe needed that in such a short period of time.

[00:28:33] Tsion: Sometimes we shock ourselves though, like I think you need to sometimes go into high pressure situations to know your capacity, right? And so we learned like, oh, we can do this. And mind you, it was short period of time, but. Was also done super, super well. Now, are there things that we, as we debriefed as a team, we're like, okay, we could have done this better and oh, for the next event, okay, we need to maybe do a longer event next time and [00:29:00] location or whatever it is.

[00:29:01] Tsion: Like for sure. I think there's always some component where you wanna learn and you always wanna be growing, but I think the, I love the pressure. I'm like, let's go. I'm competitive in nature. So I'm like, let's do this. Like we came up with the design, we came up with the name like we ca like, it was just like we had no time.

[00:29:18] Tsion: And I think something you said way, way earlier, Danielle, is like, it didn't allow for overthinking. It was just like, what's the vision? What are we trying to accomplish? What's the objective? Who's our target audience? How do we make it happen? Like it was just bam, bam, bam, bam. And for sure there was things dab where we're just like, we would look at each other and be.

[00:29:36] Tsion: I don't know how to fix this one, or, okay, let's fix it. Like, don't overthink it. Let's fix it. Let's, let's figure it out. But I don't know, I'm a, I like, I like the adrenaline. I thought it was fun. I thought was so much momentum and again, doing it with a team of people is different than doing it by yourself.

[00:29:52] Tsion: And so I'm glad we had each other, y'all.

[00:29:56] Danielle: So good. And I, I just wanna speak to what you [00:30:00] said, cause it made me think of a few different things. So first of all, What I really appreciate about all of you is that you guys are no drama, and I think that's just so important when it comes to like planning and executing events is whenever there was something that came up.

[00:30:16] Danielle: Because I mean, yeah, anyone that has ever hosted an event before, Things come up. It's just, it's the nature of a, of in-person events. And so, but what I loved about you, all of you, it's like, this is happening, this is what we're gonna do. Like, it wasn't like you came to me and it was like, there's no solution.

[00:30:34] Danielle: Like you are all very solution oriented people. So it was either you came to me and were like, Hey, there's this challenge. Here's what we're gonna do, or here's what's already being done about it. Like it was just like so refreshing just to also be able to, okay, so one of the things that I think I appreciated so much about the event itself is that I think for this event, I [00:31:00] felt the most.

[00:31:01] Danielle: Confident in stepping into a role, a host of the event, and not feeling like all of the pressure of making sure everything was going according to plan was like on my shoulders. And part of that is my own leadership, which I've really been trying to work on this year in like letting. Like letting people that wanna support me, which all of you are so amazing and support the vision of Business Babes and like actually allowing you guys to take on your roles and to, and I, and I think like you guys were just so great at making me feel confident in.

[00:31:44] Danielle: In that, in being able to let go in, being able to trust that things were gonna get worked out. And so that's what I really appreciated is that this entire team is solution oriented. No drama pivot. We had to pivot a couple times for different things, which were so great. And the [00:32:00] other thing that I thought of, When you were talking about, you know, under pressure is like diamonds are made under high, high temperature and pressure.

[00:32:07] Danielle: Right? Like that's, that's a beautiful girl.

[00:32:09] Tsion: You, you better preach that. Yes. Sorry, I had to mute for that one. Yes, yes, yes.

[00:32:17] Danielle: It's so good. Oh man. Yeah, and I think, like Sandy, did you say this about how Yeah, it just made, it made me realize like what our team was capable of doing and I think that that's really, really cool.

[00:32:31] Danielle: Will we do things differently in the future? Absolutely. There's a lot of learnings, um, that come along with having that. However, I think a cool thing, and actually before Covid and something, Our team before Covid, what we would say all the time for our events is we always figure it out. We always figure this out.

[00:32:48] Danielle: And it's, there's that confidence in knowing that you've done it once. You've figured you've had challenges before and you've, you've overcome them. And there's that confidence that comes with that. And, and I think that just relates to any [00:33:00] entrepreneurial feat, no matter what it is. It's like I've experienced hard things before.

[00:33:05] Danielle: And I figured it out and that's, that gives you confidence to like overcome the next challenge. So yeah, I love it. Okay. Yes. Jerusalem, I know we've been talking a lot about team, but I just wanted to also make note of just the progression. Like I know my role, it's more like my role more than anything that's changed from.

[00:33:25] Danielle: May, the May event, the December event, and then now this last conference, and just how the team has gone stronger and grown and like we're also doing life together outside of these events. And so now with just a short time span, it's like, okay, like we've been doing some events together and now we're in this situation.

[00:33:46] Danielle: We're gonna be, you know, stretched and just seeing that per like growth was really encouraging. And yeah, I feel closer to each and every one of you guys than ever before. So I just wanted to add that little comment. Aw, [00:34:00] so sweet. Yes, and I, I agree. And I think it's also hopefully an encouragement to anyone listening.

[00:34:06] Danielle: Good teamwork takes time and it takes, it takes challenge. Like it takes overcoming challenges as a team to be able to grow too. I think it's really cool that. You know, and we all, obviously you, as you all heard at the beginning, like everyone on this call, they also have other business, business things that they're pursuing as well.

[00:34:28] Danielle: But when we come together for like a, a common thread, and I think it, I mean, I love this because it, I always talk about the power of collaboration and the power of doing things together. And I think how this event came together with all of us collaborating and like using our own strengths and. Our own perspectives as well on like what we thought, like sometimes we would disagree on like what we thought, whatever it was, but it wasn't like this.

[00:34:56] Danielle: Oh no, it shouldn't be that way. It was like, oh, I, I haven't [00:35:00] thought about it that way. Like, let's think about this, or you know, it's kind of cool to just like have everyone from their different perspective come up with ideas or bring up things that maybe. None of us would've thought of if that person didn't bring it up.

[00:35:13] Danielle: So I think that's a super powerful part of it as well. I would love to ask about takeaways from like what you guys are gonna implement into your own personal lives or even businesses like from what you guys learned from from this event. To be entirely

[00:35:31] Hannah: honest, I mean, it's really great that I. I got to be a fly on the wall, completely involved in the event, all that different stuff.

[00:35:40] Hannah: But because of, you know, supporting the event, being photographer, it's not like I got to like sit down in a chair and like soak up every word of each amazing panel and keynote speaker. And so I was just picking up bits and pieces as the day went along, which was still incredibly valuable and, [00:36:00] One that I got to tune into the most was actually our opening keynote speaker, Elaine, and, oh my gosh, she very much set this Tinder, Tinder atmosphere for the entire day and this very vulnerable atmosphere for the entire day.

[00:36:16] Hannah: And her, her message, Elaine's message, is all about living an intentional lifestyle. And she's got this amazing story and it very much hit me that we all like when she was sharing. About her testimony, what has happened in her life, her story of overcoming her stroke and all that jazz. I was just amazed at a person.

[00:36:39] Hannah: Ability to share that you can choose what's most important, that we're all limited in life, but you can choose what's most important. And that was really impactful to me cuz I tend to get very overwhelmed. I want it all, all the time right now. And being able to make the choice for what's most important in my business and in my personal life and [00:37:00] everything kind of helped everything else fall away, and it actually has given a lot of clarity for the big and the small decisions in the past, what, three weeks?

[00:37:10] Hannah: So, yeah. I've really loved that.

[00:37:12] Danielle: So, good, man. I, I agree. And I, it's so cool. I think one of the things that I. Kind of blew me away from the event as well was just this speaker lineups and like the different panels and the order of them and like how they flowed together.

[00:37:31] Danielle: Praise God that that happened because like you just kind of put the event together and like you just sort of put people in their, in their spots for what works, for timing and like, yes, there's intentionality behind it, but also there's. Yeah, the, the divineness of like, who's in what order, and it, you said, set the tone for the day, and I think that that's so cool that, well, one, Hannah, that, that you said like it kind of set the tone, but also that you were able to tune into that one, and [00:38:00] that was obviously the one that you were meant to tune into because.

[00:38:02] Danielle: You know, you had those takeaways and those aha moments, so thanks so much for sharing that. So good, Brie? Yeah.

[00:38:08] Breanna: I think for me, what I really took away was don't be afraid to go after big dreams. And there's this level of. Everyone that shared were major overcomes. Like it's crazy. You look at someone's success, but when you see the backstory of how far they've come, for me it's like men, like not only are these people successful, they didn't start successful, and that tells me someone.

[00:38:34] Breanna: Overcoming my own things, that I can have a feature like that, that I can be an overcomer, that I can be, you know, super accomplished. Sorry, my son's in the background

[00:38:45] Danielle: playing. Don't worry. It's real life. And we've got a lot of moms listening right now, speaking of

[00:38:48] Breanna: overcoming real life, right? Yeah. And then the topic, uh, the panel topic of breaking through glass ceilings was really impactful for me, just when she shared some really vulnerable [00:39:00] things of where she came from and.

[00:39:03] Breanna: It was just like, no matter what we come up against or projections people put on us, you don't have to stay where you've come from. That we, yeah, that we all can overcome and set our own path in life was really just a good reminder personally, as well as in business that even our personal stuff, how that so interconnected into our business and those mindsets and it's like, no.

[00:39:27] Breanna: We don't have to stay in. This mindset can shift our mindset and our business will reflect those personal things that we're developing as well. And my third tech takeaway was when in unity, bigger things are possible. And so seeing a team. Like you ladies, it was just like, man, like what si and I can do together?

[00:39:48] Breanna: Yeah, that's great. But man, when we come together in an awesome collaboration that's successful, we don't need to do it all. We can come together with people and accomplish way bigger things. It's [00:40:00] like this. Independent spirit that people operate in of competitive nature versus like collaborative nature.

[00:40:06] Breanna: It's like, no, our businesses can be 10 times more successful if we just open our hearts to really work together with awesome, talented, good hearted. Team members. And so that was a big

[00:40:19] Danielle: takeaway for me. And it's so much more fun to do it with a team. Like I think, like I think back to like when I started my business and I was doing everything on my own and you know, and even when I had an a successful event, when I didn't have a team supporting me, I was like, Celebrating by myself like this, this is not like as fun.

[00:40:40] Danielle: And so it's just cool that like when you, when you open yourself up, like you said, Brie, like to collaborations and to working with other people and, and all of that, it's just so cool that you get to share that those wins with other people rather than just like, oh, I did this all on my own. Like, it actually doesn't [00:41:00] feel as.

[00:41:00] Danielle: So thanks for bringing that up. I appreciate that. So good. Okay, last question, because we have been, time is flying cause I feel like I could talk about this for all day long. But what were some things that you feel like we learned as a team that we will be taking into a future event, which. I'll share a little bit just to sneak basically just the date that you need to save and getting on the wait list.

[00:41:26] Danielle: Yeah. We have some exciting plans for the future, let's just say that. But what are some things that you feel like we learned that will be taking forward? Either things that maybe went well that we're gonna take onto a future event or things that you feel like could be included or other than I guess more time to plan, that's probably number one for everyone.

[00:41:48] Danielle: You said it, not

[00:41:49] Tsion: me. Just kidding. Just kidding. Um, I would say, I think this time around doing this conference, I think what was really unique about it is that we all had our roles, [00:42:00] right? So we never really, and again, it goes back to the collaborative nature, it comes to, we really love each other. It comes to, there's no drama.

[00:42:09] Tsion: It comes to. We're all on the same vision. And so I feel like we all had our roles, we all were in our lane, but we were running to the same destination, right? It's not like, well, I wanna do that, and why is she doing that? And we, I wanna do this. It's like, no, we had our roles and we focused on our roles. We executed our roles, and then we worked together when we needed to problem solve.

[00:42:33] Tsion: And, but there was, there's like no, um, there really is, Any fiber of competitiveness in this team. And so I think when you just know your purpose and you know your role, you know what you're trying to accomplish, and you're not looking left to right, like you're just, and it's like we're all running a race and we're like, Hey, Hannah, you get.

[00:42:54] Tsion: Let's keep going. Hey, Jerusalem again? Yeah. Okay. Keep going. Like we're all there. We're pushing towards the end [00:43:00] mark. Right. And so I think there's a component of having that continually be the structure of how we do things. And it's like Brianna and I when it comes to, you know, the planning and it comes to the decor and Jerusalem is like amazing at collecting people, but she's like a leader and she got a heart that is so soft. So she'll make people feel seen and she'll make people feel like they belong there. And you have Hannah who's just like everything. She's all the above. She's Danielle's like assistant at times. She's photographer, she's capturing authentic moments, but she's also very relational, right?

[00:43:35] Tsion: And I think that's like really all of us, to be completely honest. And so if one of us can't fulfill that role, it's like one of us can so easily step into it and it doesn't feel like a shock to our system. Maybe photography. I'm not a photographer, so I don't know if I could really do that, Hannah, but let you take over that one.

[00:43:52] Tsion: But I. We've just gotten a, at a, to a place in our team where we all know our [00:44:00] strengths and maybe we're learning it a little bit more, maybe we're developing it and we're fine tuning it as we do more events. But I think when we know, uh, our role, then we know how to really pour everything into that, but then also execute it.

[00:44:15] Tsion: Right? And so I think it's important. We all have the same goal. We're all trying to accomplish the same thing, but I need to stay in my. And not compare myself to anybody and know where my strengths are and run with that. And so I'm excited for. You know, the things that you're about to announce and future conferences and events and stuff.

[00:44:35] Tsion: I feel like we've gotten this like structured foundation now where we're able to fine tune it all that much more, but, but this previous event, the Dream Big conference, I feel like really. Established that in really cool ways. And we saw it in action, like for real, saw it in action. But we all really take care of each other.

[00:44:54] Tsion: Like throughout the day we're like, Hannah, have you had water? She's like, no. I was like, I got you. Let's go get her water. Jerusalem's. [00:45:00] Like, do you know if Danielle's has water? No. Okay, go get her some water. Go get her a little bite to eat. Brie, you good. How's your feet? Like we're just taking care of each other, making sure that each other are good.

[00:45:09] Tsion: Um, and then also taking care of our teams and making sure our teams are good and. It's just a beautiful moving, it's just like a machine, a well-oiled machine that is just like, yep, keep going. And everyone has their role, but it's all functioning in the same way. And so I really appreciated that this time and it gets me excited to know, uh, where we're headed as a team.

[00:45:31] Danielle: So good. I love that. Yeah. Brie,

[00:45:34] Breanna: I would just touch on what Zion said is just really. Creating this momentum and anticipation for the next event. It's men. For those of you who were not at the last event, I mean, you better come to this next one cuz that last event was popping and it is just getting better and better and better.

[00:45:53] Breanna: So for me, I am heck excited. To be a part of this next thing [00:46:00] happening and the next thing happening, like I've never si and I like we were talking about this too, like we'd been to a lot of entrepreneurial sort of nights or events or different groups and stuff, but there is nothing like the culture cause it is a culture that you've created, Danielle, for city business Babes, it is a unique culture that people don't even know how to explain it.

[00:46:22] Breanna: It's like you, you come in and you're. Wow. Wow. I, I can't even use words. It's just this like feeling of community and I am seen and I have a place, and we're all looking for that because there, there's this loneliness you can feel as an entrepreneur, as a female entrepreneur is like, you're bridging these gaps in society and there's this fight and then you got your personal life and there, there can just be this disconnect you feel.

[00:46:51] Breanna: But when you walk into Vanity Business, babes event, Like this dream big conference. It was like, man, I'm not alone. Wow. We're, we're going through [00:47:00] similar things. Wow. I feel so encouraged. I feel seen and it created this like energy that, man, I have strength now to go by myself back to this building and, and trend setting and, and shifting culture in our businesses.

[00:47:16] Breanna: But I felt like I was strengthened by the, the women around me that I'm like, man, like you guys have covered me, so that I can really go out and fight those battles that I have to face every day.

[00:47:28] Danielle: Wow. Thank you. Thanks for sharing that Cion.

[00:47:32] Tsion: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I gotta say something. Don't be sorry at all about culture.

[00:47:37] Tsion: I think with culture you have to create the culture you wanna be in. Sometimes we look at areas that we're like, well go in, we'll nitpick everything. And oh, there isn't this here or there isn't that, and why is it like we're so quick to negatives? But then it's like, I. What you've created in business Babes, Danielle.

[00:47:56] Tsion: It's like you've created a culture. And so there is kind of a [00:48:00] standard now of like, we don't go below this. Now. It's like this is our bar, this is, this is, sorry, this is the se. This is the, our ceiling is now our floor. So now we're going to that place where we're like, okay, if that is our floor, what is the next feeling?

[00:48:15] Tsion: Right? And then that's how we just like continue to just keep growing. But I think when you have a culture that is growing, And it's ever growing and it will continue to grow and it will continue to develop. How exciting is that, that like you don't actually ever really hit your destination? Like if you really humble yourself and and are in a posture of humility, like genuinely, like I wanna get so good where I can never be stable, if you would.

[00:48:46] Tsion: The comfortable, right? It's like we could totally cruise. We're like, yeah, we got a cool culture. But it's like, how do we bring it to the next level? How do we create something greater? How do we make people feel more involved? How do we X, Y, and Z? Like it goes on and [00:49:00] on. But I think just the culture component is so important because a lot of the times we'll see a gap, but we won't do anything about it.

[00:49:07] Tsion: And so we'll just criticize it from the sideline. But I think when you're a part of a team and we have someone like you, Danielle, who really is. No, this is the heart of us. This is the fiber of what we are doing. This is where we're going. Are you coming with me? No, nothing personal, but I gotta keep going.

[00:49:23] Tsion: Right? It's this like, it's that momentum. And so just to what Brianna said, I think culture's super important because our culture is ever growing. Now it has a strong foundation, therefore everything flows from that. But when it comes to. Where we're going as a company and where you're going. Danielle, even as a leader, like we're like, we got your back.

[00:49:45] Tsion: Right? Like we wanna follow, there's something so beautiful about not having to be a bunch of businesses that are like squirming around, but we can follow you genuinely and be excited for where you're leading. And then knowing that there's gonna be he [00:50:00] thousands of people globally that are also. Gonna create that now where they are, right?

[00:50:06] Tsion: It's like not just a Van City Business babes, but Business Babes Collective. Like that's a global thing. And so just wanted to touch a little bit more about that culture and how important creating

[00:50:17] Danielle: culture is. Aw, thank you for so much for sharing that. And I think too, like something that I've really been focused on and really been, I guess, Reflecting on is like, what is the experience that people have with our brand?

[00:50:32] Danielle: And from like every aspect, because I think, you know, obviously as a business you're on social media platforms, you're also connecting one-on-one with people in your email inbox and you are, you know, for us, we have a podcast. And so I think for me, I'm, I'm thinking about, okay, what is the client experience really as they move through all of.

[00:50:56] Danielle: Aspects of our brand. [00:51:00] Again, I, I am definitely a visionary, so sometimes it, it's funny because I, I've talked about some podcasts too, like I love celebrating the wins and I'm getting better at it, but I'm always looking for like, okay, but how could this be, like, how can this be better? Like, we, this needs to be better than it is now.

[00:51:20] Danielle: And so I think there's that balance of being like, yes, this was amazing. And like, I think there's, it's so good to. Reflect on what went well, but then also, okay, but how could it be even better? Or maybe there was an aspect of the event that didn't go well. How can we actually improve that for the next time and make it even better so that the experience can be like that much more?

[00:51:42] Danielle: So I love that you touched on that cion, because it's definitely something that is really, really like excellence. It's so important, like it really is in business, and I, I say this a lot, but our job as business owners, and I think sometimes we forget this because, because we get so caught up, what's in it for me?

[00:51:58] Danielle: What's in it for me? But it's like [00:52:00] our job as business owners is to serve, is to provide value, is to sup, help and support people, whether that be through our products or our services or both. And so the experience that we give to our customers and our clients, The most important thing, like it really is.

[00:52:17] Danielle: And so, and like the relationships that we're building. And so if we can keep that forefront also like the success is gonna come. Like if you focus on relationships and you focus on providing an excellent product and excellent service and an excellent experience for people, people will come back and they'll also refer you and talk about you.

[00:52:37] Danielle: And I know you guys have experienced that in your own businesses as well. Yeah, just wanted to, I think leave on that is, hopefully this is a takeaway for anyone listening is if you're getting caught up in maybe just the challenges that you're having in your business. And again, uh, it, running a business is no joke.

[00:52:55] Danielle: Like it's, there's really hard parts about it and, and I don't wanna minimize [00:53:00] that, but I also just wanna remind us all why we're doing what we're doing and if we. Find ourselves in a position where we're not thinking about how we can provide a better product or service for our customers or clients, then I think we do need to rethink like, why are we doing this?

[00:53:17] Danielle: What is the purpose behind, uh, the business and brand that we're building? And so, yeah, I just wanted to kind of leave on that. And then also, we do have a tentative date for the conference. Woohoo. Hannah, do you wanna share? No. You unmuted. So I was like, do you wanna say something?

[00:53:37] Hannah: I just wanted to cheer. I've been wanting to cheer this whole time and, uh, I just, like, I finally, I'm getting all my cheers and my yeses and, okay. Let's

[00:53:46] Danielle: unmute and just, and just cheer. Let's just unmute and cheer. Yeah.

[00:53:50] Jerusalem: Yeah. Woo.

And then we also had people from the island come in and, uh, I want, I wanna have some people, you know, fly in from like Australia, the uk.

[00:54:34] Danielle: I'd love to have some people from Europe or Asia, like, you know, just fly in so that we can celebrate you. We'll bring you up on stage. If you want, if you're really shy, we don't make you do that, but, um, but it'd be really cool to have some people globally, um, attending our events.
