5 Steps to Convert a Dream Into a Business

One of the biggest challenges aspiring business babes face, is getting started. Often-times, fear prevents so many of us from taking the next steps in turning our dreams into a reality. I’ve seen many female entrepreneurs with incredible ideas and big dreams, but they never get around to taking the first steps towards building a product or starting a business.

I always tell the business babes in our community to launch broken and fix live. Meaning, take a leap of faith because if you’re waiting for the perfect moment to start your business, or launch something scary, that moment will never come. There will always be a reason why you shouldn’t, or a time that may seem better. Just do it...Today!

Feeling inspired, but maybe don’t even know where to start? Here are my steps for creating a business plan, to help turn your dreams into a reality, and a profitable business.

Step One: Come up with a mission and vision statement.

Your mission statement should tell others why the business exists and what makes it different. It’ll serve as a framework, giving yourself and those involved something to build off of when establishing the business.

Step Two: Figure out who your target audience is.

Do some market research and figure out who your target audience is. What are their demographics? What social media streams do they hang out on? How can you reach them with your marketing efforts? It’s important to know who your target market is and how you can reach them.

Step Three: Create a budget and look into finances.

How much out of pocket funding will it take to launch your business? What will an accurate annual budget look like. If dealing finances isn’t your thing, don’t let that scare you from starting your business. Meet with a financial advisor and get their opinion on an appropriate budget and financial plan.

Step Four: Outline the products or services you’ll offer

Map out the products and services you’re going to launch, first. Remember a brand doesn’t grow overnight, so it’s great to launch one or two concepts and get them having success, test out your target market, adjust if necessary, etc. before jumping into offering your consumer everything you’ve ever dreamed up.

Step Five: Seek Support

Let’s face it babe, starting a business alone can be intimidating. Entrepreneurship can be a scary thing to tackle by yourself, without the opinion or help of others. That’s why I recommend seeking the support of fellow female business owners who are in your shoes, or have done what you’re currently doing.
